As a payment provider, GoCardless is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) – this means that we have to comply with strict regulatory requirements that help keep us, and our customers safe. This article will give you an overview of our verification requirements.
Please note: GoCardless will not be able to pay out funds to you until your account has been fully verified. If you start collecting payments from customers while undergoing verification, GoCardless will hold these funds until this process has been completed.

Verifying your identity
To comply with FCA rules, we are required to verify details of your organisation. This will always involve verifying at least one individual’s identity.
Please note: this check is to confirm you as an individual. As such, we are required to verify your residential address, rather than business address.
In some instances, we may ask for supporting documentation to complete this verification check. You can learn more about providing documents for verification here.
Verifying your bank account
When completing the setup section, you will be prompted to enter the details of the bank account where you would like GoCardless to send your payouts.
In order to verify your bank account, we ask that you send €0.01 from your account to GoCardless via SEPA Credit Transfer. Further information on this part of the verification process can be found here.
Please note: this payment is non-refundable.
Supported business types and documents we may require
We aim to verify information automatically where we can, however in some cases we may need to ask for certain information to be confirmed via supporting documents.
